2 Min Read

Intel has opened applications for the second edition of its Intel Community Reach Program (ICRP), an initiative designed to boost digital inclusion and support AI and broadband-powered solutions for underserved communities across Africa.

Why it matters

With internet penetration in Africa at just 38%—well below the 68% global average—the program aims to bridge the digital divide, especially in rural and remote areas, by supporting projects that use AI (particularly Edge AI and AI PCs) and broadband to drive impact in:

  • STEM education
  • Healthcare
  • Agriculture
  • Environmental services
  • Fintech
  • Digital skills readiness

The big picture

Intel is calling on startups, SMEs, enterprises, institutions, and organizations to submit proposals that harness AI and broadband for social, financial, and technological equity.

The program places a strong focus on supporting women tech entrepreneurs.

What participants get

Selected applicants will receive:

  • Technical support
  • Capacity-building opportunities
  • Consultancy services
  • Help to scale solutions that can drive real socio-economic change

What they’re saying:

  • “This program reaffirms Intel’s commitment to leveraging AI for positive change in underserved African communities,” said Dr. Bienvenu Agbokponto Soglo, Director of Government Affairs Africa at Intel.
  • “It’s not just about connectivity—it’s about empowering innovation,” added Anna Ekeledo, Executive Director of AfriLabs, Intel’s partner for the program.
