Uber is officially rolling out a redesign of their driver’s app.
The aim of the redesign is to make it easier for drivers to access the information they need the most, some of which are earnings and incentives. The new app makes it easier for drivers to recognize where surge and incentivized areas are.
In addition to incentives, the new app also informs drivers on the distance left to travel instead of time to arrival.
Drivers can also now notify riders that they are “stuck in traffic” with a one-tap response. Another notable feature is an offline mode for bad internet connectivity of drivers. Uber will record the drivers GPS and once the driver regains connectivity, Uber will be able to make any appropriate adjustments.
Uber is launching the new driver app in US cities like Los Angeles and Atlanta and it will gradually roll out the new updates globally.
Uber Ghana has already started rolling out some other updates like insurance for riders and an update to take drivers offline who have spent too much time driving is in the pipeline. These new updates could help further incentivize Uber drivers but that remains to be seen.
