For the past eight (8) years, Tech Labari has been one of the leading websites for technology news in Ghana.
We went from a small website that publishes articles about the best Wifi in Accra to publishing data trends and funding news for big startups in Africa.
But we’ve had to re-invent ourselves several times.
We went from Tech Nova GH to Tech Labari, upgrading our logo and our website to something more modern and cleaner.
We went from just written publications to producing podcast shows. We even veered into video production.
For the past eight years, we’ve relied solely on online ads and sponsored content, along with some bootstrapping to keep this website afloat.
Now in 2025, the pressure to remain relevant is harder than ever.
Behind the Scenes
Tech Labari is currently a one-person operation. To efficiently run everything, the site has had to add in automation. This has been in the form of an AI Writer to help summarise and publish some of our stories.
A one-person operation is difficult, especially when looking to scale.
As tech ecosystems evolve, we would like to capture more stories in our parts of the continent,t including francophone countries like Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, and Senegal.
Unfortunately, funds and resources are limited, and we try to cover those areas to the best of our ability.
By The Numbers
For the past eight years, we’ve hit some great milestones. These include:
- 4000+ Published Articles
- We hit 21,000 unique visitors in January 2025 (A new high)
- We have 30 published episodes for our Labari Media podcast show. Our other podcast show has over 22 published episodes.
- Our newsletter subscriber base has over 750 subscribers.
State of Play (Where We Are Now)
Currently, we’re focusing on these core areas and features:
- News Articles: We regularly publish news stories from tech, media, and business in Ghana and Africa, using AI as a helper
- Newsletter: We publish a weekly round-up of news for subscribers who can’t regularly visit our web platform. We also publish our “Deep Dive” editions, where we look at specific topics with a wider lens.
- Data and Labari Insights: Our data platform, Labari Insights, is free to sign up, but users will be required to pay a subscription fee to access certain sections on the platform.
We’re thankful to our readers for regularly reading and sharing content. It’s been a great eight years, and we look forward to what comes next.
One More Thing
As much as technology is an interesting sector to cover, I’ve been itching to document other sectors as an editor.
Given this, I’m launching a new media venture called The Labari Journal. It officially goes live on 7th April.
On this platform, we publish content focused on Society, Culture, Media, Business, and More. We look forward to readers consuming what we’re offering.
Thanks for reading, and we appreciate you for coming along on this eight-year ride with us
