Ghanaian fintech startup, expressPay, is currently piloting the eCedi with the Bank of Ghana.

The eCedi is Bank of Ghana’s Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) which is a form of digital money which can be used to pay for goods and services digitally.

The eCedi which is currently being piloted on expressPay can be used to pay for all services on expressPay. Currently, the startup will provide users eCedis when they add funds to their expressCard.

expressPay will waive the fees on transactions made with eCedis during the pilot for the first 1000 users.

The Bank Of Ghana is expected to finalise its pilot program by September or November.
