The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), in partnership with the Technical University of Munich, has constructed a solar-powered 4×4 vehicle.

The 4×4 vehicle was inaugurated by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the 51st congregation of the KNUST in Kumasi, on Saturday, 8th July.

The vehicle was developed by the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Physics. The 4 x 4 solar-powered vehicle is still being tested and is undergoing trials which will eventually lead it to being standard and road worthy.

If the vehicle passes all trials and tests, it could be the first functional solar-powered vehicle on the African continent.
