Uber Ghana Launches In-App Audio Recording Safety Feature

2 Min Read

Uber Ghana has officially started rolling out its Audio Recording feature in its app in Ghana.

About The Feature

The new feature will allow riders and drivers to you to record trip audio and share it with the Uber Support team in the event of a safety incident.

How It Works

With the feature, riders/drivers can record audio directly from the app. If a driver or rider ever feels unsafe while on a trip, they can record audio directly through the Safety Toolkit in the newest version of the Uber app.

The audio recording is sent to the Uber Support team.

Riders/Driver’s privacy is protected and the audio will only be reviewed if the sender requests that the Uber Support team review it.

All audio recordings are encrypted and stored securely on your device. Neither the rider nor your driver will be able to access them.

What They’re Saying

Marjorie Saint-Lot, General Manager for Uber in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire explains “We believe that this feature will improve the conduct of users of the Uber app, as drivers and riders hold each other accountable every step of the way. We have rolled this feature out in other markets where it has proven very successful, and we are hoping to see a similar uptake in Ghana.”

Verbal altercations, sexual misconduct and other violations can be difficult to investigate without evidence, however, we are confident that through this new feature, will assist Uber in adjudicating such incidents to ensure that the appropriate action is taken,” added Saint-Lot.
