“What’s In Your Bag” is a feature where Tech Nova asks the average Ghanaian what devices and gadgets they use in their daily lives. For today’s feature, we’re showcasing the gadgets used by blogger Nesta Jojoe Erskine.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) 256 GB
I’ve had this machine since November 2015. Before I actually bought it, I had to walk to the shop on three different occasions with the money in my bag. Anytime I get to the shop, I asked myself, “Seriously? You want to spend that much on a laptop?”
Then I would walk away. But I finally bought it and I’ve never had any regret since. I do all my writings, blogpost and photo editing on this one. Whenever I’m called upon to do a presentation, it comes very handy and due to how well it integrates with my other gadgets, I don’t miss anything. Everything on my phone and iPad is found here on the MacBook too.
iPad Pro 9.7-inch, 32 GB
Before this, I had iPad 3 Retina which I bought in 2012. In January this year, I was burgled. The burglar took away the iPad and iPhone 6 Plus away. I had to replace the stolen iPad with this one. It is the less used of all my gadgets. I only use it for reading (which I do every day) and playing puzzles. Also, when I make a change on my blog, I use it to check how it appears on tablets since I have to get it right for people who browse with tablets. It’s also my 10-month baby’s favorite play thing. Occasionally he sees it as part of the floor and walks on it.
iPhone 6S Plus, 64 GB
This one is a gift from a beautiful friend. I was miserable when my gadgets got stolen. She thought of something to make me happy and she got me the iPhone 6S Plus. Since then, I’ve been praying for her each day to get enough money. When the iPhone 8 comes, I believe this one will be stolen too. And she will have to make me happy. Most of my online activities are done with this phone and on a day I have to do a presentation, it becomes the remote control for the slides, courtesy an App called RemoteMouse.
Beats by Dre PowerBeats 2 Wireless Earbuds
This is wireless and sweat-resistant. That makes it good for me any day that I decide to workout. Since I barely workout, I barely use it. I don’t like how it’s fitted to the ears and the noise cancellation doesn’t work for me cos it barely sticks into my ears. A friend left it in my bag and she forgot. I pretended I’ve forgotten too until she travelled and it became mine. Don’t judge me.
JBL T180A Pure Base
I use this one every day since I bought it. The base is magic. It fits so well in my ears that I hardly hear any sound coming from the outside. It’s one of the best purchases I’ve done this year. When in the midst of frenemies, I put it on and pretend I’m listening to music so I can hear when they scheme against me. Smart!
Non-Fictions Books
Books are my friends. Non-fiction mostly. But every now and then I read Some fictions just to feed my imagination. Though I read mostly from the iBook app on my iPad, I never get to go anywhere without carrying a book in my bag. On a long journey where the iPad’s battery can’t take me all the way, I read paperbacks. Like a friend always say, “Real books don’t go off, iPads do.”
A Pen and a USB Drive
USB drive because sometimes you’ll need it. I don’t usually have need for it but there was a time I needed one urgently and nobody in the office could give me one. Since then I’ve learned to carry one for that single moment when I will need it. A pen because I’m sure someday a lady will ask for a pen in a meeting and I’ll be the only one to have it. That day hasn’t come yet but it will. People hardly carry pens. They all like to type now.
Apple Magic Mouse
Mostly, the track pad isn’t enough. Especially when working with Photoshop or doing editing or something that requires you to drag and drop many files. That’s where the mouse comes in. Actually, I prefer using the mouse to using the track pad even in normal use. I think the mouse is easier or I’m just addicted to its use.
Aviator Sunglasses
I’ve had this for the past 4 years or so. I don’t trust the brand name on it. Looking at the price that I bought it and where I bought it from, it can’t be original. That notwithstanding, it does a perfect job on a sunny day and in some other days that I want to look cool.
