In this article, we shine a spotlight on nine women in tech who are pushing boundaries in Ghana’s tech ecosystem.
Miishe Addy (Jetstream Africa)
Miishe Addy is the co-founder and CEO of Jetstream Africa, a logistics technology company that provides digital freight forwarding, trade financing, and cargo tracking tools for businesses in Africa.
She led her company to raise $13 million in pre-Series A equity and debt funding in 2023 and just recently, launched Jetvision AI, an AI-powered feature for their logistics platform.
Valerie Labi (Wahu Mobility)
Valerie Labi is a Ghanaian entrepreneur and social innovator who is the co-founder and CEO of Wahu Mobility (formally Mana Mobility), a start-up that manufactures affordable and connected electric vehicles for Africa.
She was a Mandela Washington Fellow for Young African Leaders.
Wahu Mobility recently launched a local factory for the local assembly of electric bikes in Ghana.
Awura Abena Agyemang (Wear Ghana)
Awura Abena Agyemang is a Ghanaian entrepreneur and fashion designer who is the co-founder and CEO of Wear Ghana, a clothing brand that promotes Ghanaian culture and heritage through contemporary designs.
She is a 2021 Mandela Washington Fellow and a recipient of the 2020 Fashion Personality of the Year award from the Glitz Style Awards.
Carmelle Cadet (EMTECH)
Carmelle Cadet is the founder and CEO of EMTECH, a fintech company that works with central banks to create inclusive and resilient digital cash infrastructure using blockchain technology.
Although she is Haitian-American, she and EMTECH have been instrumental in helping Ghana’s Central Bank with its regulatory sandbox as well as its digital currency, the E-Cedi.
Cecilia Afutu (Konzoom)
Cecilia Afutu is the co-founder and CEO of Konzoom, a company that provides a seamless and efficient grocery shopping experience by processing, fulfilling, and delivering all orders within 60 minutes.
Jessie Abugre and Nana Adwoa Amponsah-Mensah (Zuputo)
Jessie Abugre is the co-founder and CEO of Zuputo and Nana Adwoa Amponsah-Mensah is the co-founder and COO of Zuputo.
Zuputo is Africa’s first women-led legal tech startup and has been recognized as a pioneer in the legal industry. It offers a web app that enables users to generate contracts, register IP, incorporate companies, and connect with legal professionals.
Zuputo’s mission is to make legal services more accessible, affordable, and user-friendly for African businesses and individuals.
Valentina Giacobbe (Enroute 54)
Valentina Giacobbe is a Ghanaian travel and sustainability entrepreneur who is the co-founder and managing partner of Enroute 54, a company that offers curated travel experiences and cultural immersion in Ghana and other African countries.
She has a master’s degree in sustainability management and innovation from the University of Westminster and a bachelor’s degree in tourism management from Bournemouth University.
Rashida Musa (rAIma)
Rashida Musa is a Ghanaian entrepreneur and AI integration specialist who works with various organizations to optimize their processes using AI tools.
She studied International Business at the University of Alberta in Canada. She founded $hida $ells, an e-commerce consulting agency that used predictive analysis for product selection on Amazon.
She returned to Ghana and became an AI integration specialist, working with various clients.
