In an announcement on Sunday, Twitter stated said that it will remove accounts created solely for the purpose of promoting other social platforms.
In a detailed post, Twitter stated they would be removing promotion of other social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Truth Social, Tribel, Post and Nostr.
They would also be prohibiting 3rd-party social media link aggregators such as linktr.ee and lnk.bio
Twitter accounts with tweets such as the following below will violate the new policy:
- “follow me @username on Instagram”
- “username@mastodon.social”
- “check out my profile on Facebook – facebook.com/username”
Twitter Users Can Still Cross Promote Content
Twitter did however state that they recognize that certain social media platforms provide alternative experiences to Twitter, and will allow users to post content to Twitter from these platforms. Any type of cross-posting to on Twitter platform WILL NOT be in violation of this policy, even from the prohibited sites.
