According to a source at GhanaCelebrities(?), there is word that Surfline Ghana, one of the most visible 4G LTE providers, has laid off about 70 of its workers in an attempt to cut costs.
The reason for the layoffs reportedly has to do with the company’s bid to reduce its cost of operations. No official word has come from the company about its cost-cutting measure or if the reports are true.
Hopefully, we get an update soon about the recent firings.
Is Surfline in a bit of trouble financially? And if so, what about the rumours of Vodafone trying to leverage its 4G infrastructure? Could that process be speeding up if Surfline needs some cash injection?
We’ll wait and see how this story develops.
