Lightwave eHealthcare Solutions Limited, on May 31st, 2025, suspended all LHIMS-related services to facilities using the system.
However, according to a press release from the Ministry of Health, Lightwave has reactivated its services after some discussions with the Ministry.
Why it matters
The suspension would have affected Ghana’s health information backbone, the Lightwave Health Information Management System (LHIMS), which is used across public hospitals and health facilities.
LHIMS supports electronic medical records, patient data, and networked services.
Driving the news
Lightwave cited delays in the government’s contract extension consent process as the reason for halting support services.

What Was Impacted:
- Access to the LHIMS application and integrated services
- Support calls, service requests, and technical assistance
- Periodic system and software updates
- Wide area network (WAN) connectivity
What they’re saying:
A spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Tony Goodman, stated that the company and the Ministry of Health discussed behind closed doors for the company to reactivate its service.
