Happy New Year Folks! Hope you all enjoyed the break. Yesterday was a great year for us. We managed to surpass 90,000+ unique visitors last year and this year, we’re hoping to break that record as we focus on more content for our readers.

Here are some notes from the editor for 2024:

Generative AI

Unless you’ve been under a rock, we’re all witnessing how quickly artificial intelligence (AI) has been moving since last year. AI is already disrupting various industries and the media content space has not been spared.

But we at Tech Labari have embraced AI to help us with media content. Since January this year, we’ve been experimenting with Generative AI for our “Features” section. We’ve been using different AI generators to produce articles on Ghana and the African tech ecosystem. We’ve dubbed our AI writer “Labari AI“.

The experiment so far has been largely successful. We found the content produced by generative AI to be well-written and well-resourced articles for specific topics.

Of course, generative AI is not without its flaws. Some articles we produced have had to be scrapped because most of the content and research were “made up” and false. AI experts call this “hallucination” produced by generative AI.

But for the most part, generative AI has done its job. For the foreseeable future, we will be producing more generative AI articles which will be reviewed by the editor for accuracy. As the AI gets better, so will the written content.

New Podcast Season

We’ve been producing two podcast shows for Tech Labari. One show is called “The Labari Media Podcast” where we interview movers and shakers in the tech space in Ghana and Africa.

Our other show is “What’s Your Story“, a podcast show where we interview business persons, CEOs, entrepreneurs, and creatives about their life stories, business careers, and challenges they’ve faced.

We’re happy to announce that we will have new episodes of the Labari Media Podcast dropping very soon and Season 3 of “What’s Your Story” will start dropping in March.

Current and Future Business Model

As I mentioned before, Generative AI is a big thing and this is affecting how media sites generate revenue. For the most part, advertising is our main revenue and we anticipate that it will shift in the near future. It’s hard to say if we will be pivoting to a “Subscriber Model” where readers have to subscribe to receive our content.

Currently, it’s been looked at but we’re focused on written content at the moment. We’re open to advertising from brands and companies who would like to use our platform to advertise to our readers from Ghana, Nigeria, UK, and the US. Advertisers can also make use of our newsletter which currently has over 600+ subscribers to gain more visibility.

Future of Content

The future is AI. But there’s still space for different content kinds of content on our platform. We at Tech Labari have started publishing videos on our YouTube page to give our audience richer content. You can subscribe to our YouTube to get videos whenever we publish new content.

Our podcasts are still going strong as we mentioned before with new content coming soon

Our content going forward will consist of news, data (check out our data insights page), reports (check out our EV Mobility Report), and generated AI feature content.

This year in 2024 should be an interesting one. We appreciate our readers and audience for continuing to consume and share our content.
