Uber riders in Ghana have been getting emails and messages about a “Booking Fee” on rides.

According to some social media users, they got messages in an email stating that Uber would be introducing “Booking Fees” on every ride they take.

In April, Uber sent out a similar message about an increase in fees due to a directive from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) which stated that a 1 GHC would be applied.

However, it looks like this fee, which is a 6% fee on all rides, might be separate from the DVLA transport fee which has currently been on pause.
